The First Quarter Moon provides the opportunity to take actions that put you in alignment with the creative potential from last week’s New Moon. Circumstances this coming week may create tension or “crisis” in order to allow you to shift direction and come into alignment with the new potentials. In the coming days leading up to the Full Moon right action and good decisions will keep your momentum on track.

Astrology Article: When the Universe Tests You

Whenever I hear someone say, “Oh my god, the Universe is testing you!” I immediately think to myself, “Why would the Universe want to test me? Is this life a pass/fail exam? Is the Universe keeping a score card?”

Over the years with the help of astrology, I have come to understand this idea of “the Universe testing me” in a new a way. I have come to see the Universe as a supportive and helpful ally providing continuous opportunities for help with my mastery of new skills and awareness.

This week of the First Quarter Moon it may feel like you’re being tested, but this feeling is connected to a new skill the Universe is offering.

The skill you are developing is the ability to transcend the normal understanding of circumstances, through faith in your Higher-self. You’re developing an understanding that even the smallest and most insignificant actions can result in spectacular results. This understanding leads to the skill of reacting authentically to circumstances which otherwise seem out of your control.

In order to fully develop and master this new skill you need opportunities for practice. When the Full Moon Eclipse gift of “discovering your own truth” meets the New Moon ability to “connect more authentically” you are in a position come into alignment with your new skill. This will take some practice to master, but it’s not a test. Rather, it’s an opportunity.

This opportunity requires you to make good decisions as you react to life’s circumstances. For it is only through your “authentic” reactions (even in the smallest ways) that you can practice this new skill. So let’s be clear. Rather than testing you, the Universe is helping in the evolution of your consciousness by giving you the opportunity, through challenging circumstances, to master this new skill.

Yes, at times this week it may feel as if you’re being “tested,” but in reality the Universe is giving you opportunities to practice your new responses through new awareness. So instead of testing, I like to think of responding to these situations as a spiritual practice, offering the opportunity to transcend our out-dated reactions to life.

Astrological Patterns of Support

The Moon this week has a special relationship with Jupiter and Mars. Its 150° angles indicate an important key in activating 2 of our 5 points found in the current partial grand sextile (see chart). You may remember from earlier charts this year that it takes 6 points to fully activate a grand sextile.

In the current configuration, the First Quarter Moon is offering support for quick adjustments to challenges, provided you hold the image and understanding of how small actions can have a long-term impact.

Jupiter shows you how to expand into your own success, provided you are able to release any deep-seated energies (Mars) which haven’t been completely integrated (Moon).

This week offers one of the best opportunities I have seen in a long time to make real and lasting transformation in your personal life (Pluto conjunct Venus in the 4th grand sextile position). Venus’ position wants you to respond to challenges in new ways by accessing your relationship with your Higher-self, then asserting your own authority and taking responsibility for the outcome. Otherwise the danger is to feel overwhelmed or victimized, which is the shadow side of Pluto conjunct Venus.
